Happy new year
From the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake
The long, slender pine tree resembles a dragon and appears to be transforming into a snake.
It looks like a dragon coming from the sky and descending to the earth.
Enjoying things like this is what a “Mitate” is all about, and I’m happy that it is able to so well represent the current situation. (The gallery will be closed until the 7th for general cleaning and tidying up, so unfortunately no one other than us will be able to see this arrangement…)
I’ve seen a lot of rainbows recently, and it seems like a good omen.
I hope it will be a good year. I hope it will be a wonderful year for everyone.
I spent New Year’s listening to Handel. The name of the album below coincidentally matches the photo???
Thank you so much for your perceptive comments about a whole range of subjects, but especially your fine eye for colour, texture and meaning in ceramic pieces. I have learned a great deal from you during the past five years since I began receiving your emails. They are greatly looked forward to and appreciated. I am looking forward to coming to your shop again in April 2025.
Knowing of your concern for the state of the world in this “Happy New Year” time, I would like to draw your attention to something that was said by the violinist Yehudi Menuhin:
Thank you for your comment.
