It is an abstract painting created by the reaction of firewood and clay.
No artificial substances are used to produce the colors.
I handle a large number of works, but only a few each year do I come across a piece that truly surprises me.
That would be something completely unexpected, something miraculous.
The green color alone is a beautiful and mysterious phenomenon, but the fact that the blue and red colors appeared naturally (not artificially) is beyond anything I could have imagined.
The fact that this abstract painting, including the crazing, was created using clay and firewood is beyond human comprehension.
Encountering works like these allows both ceramic artists and us to feel hopeful about the future.
