The rare, bluish hue of this piece offers a refreshing coolness in this heat.
Its relaxed yet crisp design exudes a sense of refined elegance. The occasional splashes of red from the “Gohon” within the blue background are a particularly beautiful sight.
And above all, its greatest strength is the beautiful crackle glaze.
Finally, the balance of the Kodai is good, and the way it’s carved, which gives a sense of the texture of the clay, is also excellent.
This is a wonderfully accomplished piece of work.

It feels like there are a lot of cicadas this year.
Looking at this cicada shell, I feel as though it were me.
I feel like I’ve been completely drained dry—last year it was Japanese taxes, and this year, U.S. tariffs. Lately, there’s been a scandal involving local assembly members in Japan who apparently blew around 270 million yen of taxpayer money on lavish overseas “fact-finding” trips over the course of three years. They say this is just the tip of the iceberg; it’s truly sickening to see so many corrupt politicians. Their assets should be seized and used to make them provide a refund !!
