In Search of Coolness

Dimple Bowl | Tetsuya ISHIYAMA

Summer has arrived in Kyoto. It is humid, and the heat feels intense—unusually so.
Sunlight filtering through the trees creates a beautiful scene of polka-dot patterns, and watching it sway in the breeze is a sight I love.
Gazing at the beautiful surface of the vessel, adorned with gold and silver accents, makes me want to fill it with chilled matcha. The temperature difference will likely cause water droplets to coat the surface of the vessel. While your fingers might otherwise slip, the dimple ensures you can enjoy your drink without any trouble—or so I imagine.
The green matcha will stand out beautifully against the gold interior.
It is a very well-made piece of work.
Reflecting the environment in which it is placed onto its own surface is a form of assimilation, creating an impression akin to that of a chameleon.
