Split pine wood fed into the kiln instantly turns to ash, which then settles onto the vessels; as this ash accumulates in large quantities, it forms a layer resembling the top surface of the vessel. The lower sections, meanwhile, display a texture reminiscent of scattered sesame seeds. This piece features beautiful gradations.
